Sol in Session

Well, my second blog entry, showcasing some of the great talent we have here in Herefordshire & Worcestershire - and that was certainly what I witnessed on Friday night when Ross-on-Wye's Sol played live on the Friday Session Introducing...

Sol - real name Nick - brought in this nifty little pedal (which I now want for my birthday this week!) which allows him to play a bit of a guitar - stick it on loop - put down the guitar - sing a chorus - put that on loop - pick up a violin - put that on loop - add some drums - put that on loop... need I go on? To say it was one of the most amazing live sessions I've seen from a soloist is a complete understatement. And his skills have taken him all over Europe (dressed as an old lady, I might add - carrying his equipment in a pram, with a whacking great battery on-tow!).

Also on the show, we talked to the producers of a brand new programme on BBC1 looking for Britain's best tribute artists!! Sounds a hoot - we have a bloke in Hereford who 'does' Tina Turner (yep, hairy legs included), a Rod Stewart and our very own Elton John - he even appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross two years ago!

Anyway - recommendation of the week - check out these guys from Leominster - they are Target Alexa - they're trying to raise money for a new skatepark in the town, and they're writing some pretty hard well produced rock. Oh, and they're only 15 years old.
