My oh my...what a weekend. A mess.
This weekend, I managed to get a couple of days off and go to Southern Germany to the Nurburgring 24 hour race. It was an amazing spectacle. I didn't really know what to expect, so a few of us got in a lovely campervan and drove down there on Thursday morning.
When we got there, it was incredible. 250,000 people stay on campsites around the track itself and we were shown to our bit which was literally next to the action. It's like Glastonbury - with cars and no bands. As a result, very little sleep was had and I am absolutely dead.
Amazing weekend spent with my boys though - proper road trip, beers, campfires, dodgy German clubs, and definitely not a night in a casino. Gambling is wrong, kids. All set around a stunning backdrop of one of the most famous circuits in the world. Night time racing of performance cars in pitch black is simply out of this world.
Just a little bit of beer...
The start line of the 24hr race:
'Tiredness':
Wearing an anorak checking out the 'wheels':
Early evening BBQ at the side of the track. Perfect. Germans love a bit sausage:
People bring their living rooms!
All these people to see a race. Incredible:
