The week in review...

Greg James|18:26 UK time, Friday, 27 February 2009

Goodevening everyone!

Well, what a week it's been! Very busy, very fun and quite diverse too!

Started off on Monday morning with the madness of the Oscars show that James King and I did. Have a listen again here. Especially good was the now imfamous "Whooooopieeee" moment (around 5:15am). Then in the evening, it was more films for me - the world premiere of 'Watchmen' in Leicester Sqaure in London. Have a look at my cracking James King-esq (I wish) review.

Tuesday I got to interview Kelly Clarkson during the day after her Live Lounge Performance and then in the evening saw one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen by the band Fleet Foxes at the Camden Roundhouse.

Wednesday was a much needed midweek lull

Thursday was another busy one as I popped off to see Russell Kane do a great stand up gig. His turn of phrase is very clever and his material is brilliantly focussed on topics such as why Brits are so happy with finding the worst in everything. We see someone do badly, and it makes us feel good. I love him. Not in that way, but you know.

Today (Friday) has been a very odd day. I was looking after the crowd at the big U2 Live Lounge gig. I had to keep them informed of what was going on and went through the safety announcements! I even did an impression of Bono, which luckily went down well. Could have gone either way! Then went and had a bit of lunch with Jo and the boss Piers and he made me do my impression of Jo to her. Thanks for that. Have a look at all the U2 guff here.

I'm now sitting in my girlfriend's kitchen writing this and am pretty tired it's to say - great week though - hope you've enjoyed all the tales on the big show. More of this on from Monday at 4am. This week will be a tough one to top though!

As always, thanks for your comments on here - it is much appreciated and I do read them all because I'm sad and I love it. I urge you to continue commenting to your heart's content but I don't want to force you! A little statistic for you here - Someone told me that approx 2% of Radio 1's audience actually bothers to text in. Incredible really - that's not a lot. So, for the silent majority that read these ramblings regularly, hello and welcome along. I know you're there - I've seen the 'hit figures' or whatever they're called.

Have a lovely weekend! Brap brap etc. I'm off out for dinner and a few frothy bevvies - to coin a phrase.

Thanks for the round up. Geez Greg... that is one hell of a week. I'm not surprised there was little sleep happening. Made for some very funny shows too.

Haha, don't say you actually sat and read all the very random discussion that has been had on here of recent... Much apologies.

    Will keep commenting though :-p

Have a great weekend, Claire will be sick of all the stories of your week by Sunday lunch.

A house in Ipswich and Suffolk though? Niceee

    Hi Greg

Not wanting to sound like my Grannie or anything, but I had to sign up to your blog, as you always seem like such a nice boy. :)

I'm afraid I'm never up early enough to listen to your morning show, but always enjoy your banter when you fill in for the other DJ's at more reasonable hours. (It never ceases to amaze me how often they are off sick?! They need to eat more veggies and drink more water.)

I'm sure its just a matter of time before you graduate to a more permanent prime-time slot, and when you do, I'll be tuning in.

    Lovin' your work. xx

Seeing as it wont let me delete my comment and repost it without such a numpty comment on, I will point out to the world that I didn't take GCSE Geography... so was stupid enough to think that Ipswich and Suffolk were different places. But wow... a house which is in a town and a county.... now thats special.

I'll go back to reading books the wrong way up now :-p

  • Comment number 10.

You didn't miss much in GCSE Geography. I don't actually remember us studying much about England anyway. We spent longer discussing clouds.

I'm just an all around smarty pants in general.

I think Ipswich is also the county town of Suffolk. I may be wrong with that, though. XD

Wow...what a boring comment to put.

  • Comment number 11.

Right, time to hit google before I make any more mistakes :-p

  • Comment number 12.

On google maps now... see I thought Ipswich was in Norfolk, I didn't realise that it was so close to the Essex border... or that Suffolk was bordered with Suffolk.

You learn something new everyday eh?

Time to go before I speaks more rubbish :-p

busy week indeed, love to keep up with you on twitter. keep up the great show, I regularly listen on the iplayer, 4am far too early

  • Comment number 14.

You do realise the more you say about how no one comments the more i want to comment! Nice to read about your VERY busy and rather showbiz week! Far more exciting than mine.

I personally think you should be on at a normal hour when i can actually hear you! But at least I can catch bits of you (and your rather addictive voice) on Scott Mills occasionally. Keep up the good work. Oh and thanks to you I'm listening to Fleet Foxes which are fab. May i suggest Missy higgins, a girl from Aus...Fab. And also a group called A Sound Mind, also from Aus.
