Dad's Army Episode 1: The Man and The Hour, 1968
On July 31st, 1968, the first episode of Dad's Army was broadcast on BBC One. The listing on Radio Times magazine swiftly introduces the storyline: "our hero forms a platoon of Local Defence Volunteers to defend our island home."
