Nina’s back on CBeebies from Monday 21st July 2014 at 4.15pm, with a brand new series exploring and explaining sports science – with a bit of help from her five sense Neurons, of course!

From Wimbledon and the World Cup to the Tour de France, it’s already been a cracking summer of sport, and with the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow, the excitement is set to continue. If the exploits of their sporting heroes leave your child with more questions than answers, Nina and the Neurons are on hand to help.

Why are balls so bouncy? Why do we play football in a team? How can we jump further, start faster or climb better – and why do we get so out of breath? Nina and her intrepid young Experimenters visit stadiums, ice-rinks, velodromes and pools to find out how athletes like rugby players, cyclists, trampolinists, high divers, gymnasts, curlers, cricketers and marathon runners do what they do.

We hope Nina and the Neurons: Get Sporty will really inspire little ones to get active and try some new things. Top exercise scientist, Dr Jason Gill helped to make the series, and is passionate about getting kids up and moving. In this video, he explains for parents why it's so vital that little ones get into the habit of exercising from a young age.
