Hello - Big ups it's Fabio!

Merry Christmas to all you DnB heads - I can't believe Rider's Ranch finally happened and what fun we had!

It was a great night great to see everybody - Shy Fx, Goldie, Sub Focus, Heist, Fresh and of course our wonderful host my man Rider.

The drink was flowing... and the food was good!

It was so good to sit down and chat to all those dance music legends and swap stories and tips for 2011 - I have to tell you I found it all quite inspiring - not that I'll get too deep on you now!

Can't believe the team got me to bake a cake on the day for dessert... of course Groove baked his own Key Lime Pie being the chef extraordinaire he is!

My New years resolution for 2011: to keep going to the gym and to be a fully fledged chef by this time next year - I CAN DO IT!

Underworld - Barking. Works on three levels. I am writing this in case you do not live in the UK and maybe English is not your first language. Barking is a place in Essex, a county that is home to Underworld. Barking is the sound that dogs make, and 'barking' for some reason has become a popular description of a person deranged, as in' barking mad'. Or just 'barking'. This is as weird as calling someone 'mad as a box of frogs', but popular nevertheless. I suppose if you were one of a load of frogs crammed in a box you would get mad!

Pete and the Essential Mix production team have debated and argued their way to a shortlist of the following ten All two-hour mixes broadcast between January 1st and December 11th 2010 were up for consideration.

Picking out ten was a tricky task and the standards were incredibly high! In the end, the mixes that made the shortlist were the ones that used the two hours to full effect, taking the listener on a creative, coherent, flowing musical journey.

Hello Dance Bloggers! I'm MistaJam and I'm a self confessed bass junkie. Ever since my weekday Radio 1Xtra show (Monday to Thursday 7-10pm) started in 2007 and Benga & Coki's seminal 'Night' seduced me into the Dubstep scene (it was even the second record I played on the show), I've been happily evangelising about sub bass at 140bpm ever since.


Even though it's multi-genre, the 'Daily Dose Of Dubstep' has become a staple part of the show and through it, I've been lucky enough to play a part in introducing one of the most exciting and diverse British musical genres to a national audience. Being part of what could be described as the 3rd generation of Dubsteppers, I've been lucky enough to have got into it early enough to have seen the popularity of the genre grow and grow to the point where now it's making an impact on the national charts without signs of compromising the underground musical aesthetic; and this Saturday, it's taking over the whole Saturday night schedule on Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra!

The full schedule is below (we'll be announcing more big names too, keep an eye out!). I'm looking forward to doing my first co-host with the Queen of Beats Annie Mac to kick off the night from 7pm and then being the referee for what promises to be a brutal no-holds barred Dubstep Soundclash. The whole night is going to be heavyweight - but in particular, as a fan, I'm looking forward to Benji B's "Musical Story Of Dubstep" - if you're like me and was into the Garage scene in the early 00's but a bit too young to have gone raving - the show promises to connect the dots between what was "Dark Garage" and is now Dubstep with all the big seminal tunes getting a rinse.

If you're brand new to the scene, I highly recommend you take a listen to part 1 of the Radio 1 & 1Xtra Story of Dubstep documentary that went out last Monday (you could even download the podcast) and then I'll see you Saturday night from 7pm to attempt to convert you to the wonderful world of sub-bass at 140bpm. Whilst having some friendly banter back stage at a gig a few weeks ago with a fellow DJ, we ended up arguing about a record and whether it was good or not! I was in the firm mind it was good, and the other guy thought I had lost my own argument when i declared it was a cheesy track... but this is would only be the case if you class cheese as a bad thing!!

I've been DJ'ing in clubs for over 10 years now, and if there is one thing that has remained consistent, no matter how cool and credible people like to claim their musical tastes are, nothing ever quite get the reaction of dropping hands in the air vocal track, or something with a big riff from chart track.

I'm sure many people sucking their teeth at me reading this, so i'll close my case the same way I did to said DJ above... Music is like toast, great, but better from time to time with a bit of cheese on it!
