Cheese = good?

KutskiKutski|16:45 UK time, Friday, 3 December 2010

Whilst having some friendly banter back stage at a gig a few weeks ago with a fellow DJ, we ended up arguing about a record and whether it was good or not! I was in the firm mind it was good, and the other guy thought I had lost my own argument when i declared it was a cheesy track... but this is would only be the case if you class cheese as a bad thing!!

I've been DJ'ing in clubs for over 10 years now, and if there is one thing that has remained consistent, no matter how cool and credible people like to claim their musical tastes are, nothing ever quite get the reaction of dropping hands in the air vocal track, or something with a big riff from chart track.

I'm sure many people sucking their teeth at me reading this, so i'll close my case the same way I did to said DJ above... Music is like toast, great, but better from time to time with a bit of cheese on it!

    Cheese is good in the right context... If you're playing sankeys at 3am then cheese is probably not wise or appreciated, but if you're in the main room and the crowd is right, yeah why not?
    However it depends how you define cheese... Cause some people find Deadmau5 cheesy, but some don't et cetra et cetra

    I echo LittleJamesOwl in that cheese is good in the right context...and when done well. I work operating Foam Parties all over England and Wales - drop a big cheesy tune cleverly and well, and watch the crowd go mental! A completely cheesy set is just as boring as a completely clever set.....mix it up and you'll stop me from getting too bored!
