New blog up people! The lovely Hal's dominoes......

Time to take them down again.

gosh,am i really 3rd on here? the domino thing is meant to help hal control his urges - teaching him self control (not knocking them over when he's done,but taking them back down again) but what would happen if it was an 'accident'?y'know,if his sleeve got caught or something,or baby eve started crying and made him jump?

where is the organ in HH?

8 - Hiya - I thought it was an organ in the background but then thought again as couldn't remember ever having seen one. I'm sure someone will be able to shed some light on it. Maybe Hal brought it with him? :-)

deft an organ cos we used to have one like that when I was little. Do you think we are going to be treated to sing songs round the organ in an evening!

Perhaps Hal plays the Kia-Ora song on the organ after he's sampled its delights!

11 - LOL!

I wonder who had the job of setting the dominoes up for filming these scenes? Takes quite a lot of skill (and a very steady hand). Remember something on Blue Peter when I was little about dominoes and the intricate patterns people were able to create with them. Never managed anything like that!

ok this may sound completely mad but i have noticed references to fairy tales when Hal met leo he mentions the golden egg. .

He refers to Lilliput which was in Gulliver's Travels also think there may have been references to animal farm although not blatant in Hals letter to the miniature circus plus the Kia-ora ref and the battle in which Hal was hanged just to mention a few . .

I am kinda familiar with these although not too clued up but i can see them for more that jut a fairytale or fable can see a little of what they represent.

As these are quite strong references .I was thinking that its may not be accidental that i am thinking along these lines . Has any one else thought this .I was thinking that may be this could help solve a bit of the scroll but i am properly wrong as i always normally am.

And although the dominoes are Hals therapy to help him have control over bigger urges i also think that they are Significant because they could also represent the domino theory .

One thing I have noticed is Hal is also very Superstitious.

Just passing... I was wandering what happenes if somone else accidentaly knock over hals dominoes?

- Wander if Hal appreciated Leo musical taste, perhaps that was part of his control, having to endure Leo Blues LPS which he really hated.

17,30 - You may be on to something with the fairies/fairy tales because I noticed if you pause S4E2 at 18:01 minutes, that on the wall behind Cutler (I think it's Cutler so many new characters and I've never been good with names) there are a few words.



Ferry and Fairy are the only ones I can make out, but they may have some meaning?

Its seem i think the fairy tales / fables may give us a clue to why eve lost the war and why she or another woman has to die to kill baby.If you know the tales then your know what the deeper meaning are its political and all the clues stem from that i am proberly barking up the wrong tree as usual but these stories have metaphors if you can understand what i am getting at and animal farm is a great example

I'm really enjoying the new trio. In fact I'm hoping the OOs take ages to get to Barri, because I love the return to the character based humour and drama that were my favourite parts of the previous series. I love Hal's tightly strung over-regimented-to-the-point-of-OCD control, with the bloodlust bubbling underneath. He's old and interesting and very serious about staying clean. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops, and I'm enjoying Tom's directness and innocence despite what he's lived with. Annie's motherly attitude toward him is really warm and funny. I'm looking forward to seeing how Annie and Hal's relationship grows.



Can't wait for episode 3. :o)

63. ewan. 'Gahowww' now who does that remind us of S1or 2 was it?

63- I know. But it struck me as an odd thing to say - "You're the only person in this building who isn't frightened of me" - he wasn't bragging - it was a statement of fact. Vampires admired Mitchell because of his reputation - but they weren't 'frightened' of him - look at the funeral parlour scene in S2 - he had to say he had killed Cara before the vamps stopped scoffing.

But vampires are frightened of Hal? I want to know why.

I agree about Fergus but he was very scary with Annie and Eve.

67 - Could it be the fact that he is an OO - ruthless to the very bone? I think Fergus is in the process of becoming a pile of ash. He's too male cockerel sure of himself and not as clever as he seems to think imo.

70 - What've I done - said something I shouldn't? I haven't read any of the spoilers at all so these are just my thoughts and lots of other thoughts are widely available - see your local Co-op. :-)



Maybe Mark Gatiss is Hal's *daddy* - that would be enough for folks to be terrified of him!

Yesterday I was defiantly barking up the wrong tree and reading too much into the fairy tales them selves and having theroys which was totally mad .But i do believe that he suffers from a condition called Alice in Wonderland syndrome which could cause him huge problems and this doest help him with his his control This syndrome i think is a clue to may be the old ones have other afflictions or may be the afflictions were passed down . It was mentioned by a poster that fairy tales came from peoples need to explain the supernatural. Hal is now part of the supernatural an at his time of birth mythology was very real they believed in all sorts. So i like the way the writers have used the fairy tales in such a way . As for the dominoes they represent Hals control his therapy but also how it can be lost just as simple as blowing one domino and ripple that it causes not just for Hal but for the world .

Someone's a bit worried. EW caught sight of that thing about a hoover in Sunday night's episode...And he was doing so well too. He'd seen a quick ad for something called "White Heat" coming soon to BBC2...his little eyes lit up...

But now he's having flashbacks...it's all coming back...the indignity of it...something about a hoover...



As a precaution, vampire counselling for concerned Old Ones, and nearly Old Ones - yes Herrick that means you - has been arranged on the top floor of the blog for 10pm, distressed/troubled werewolf counselling will be available on the ground floor, on the patio...I believe Lycan is taking care of that session, though that may be more "Deal with your inner wolf - have another bite of this juicy white rabbit, or a deer if one's passed through the blog garden" But it's not a full moon so that shouldn't be a problem...

And to cover all supernatural concerns, Gilbert has kindly agreed to pop in, after he's dealt with rearranging his rare Japanese vinyl imports of various Echo & The Bunnymen singles, he's nice like that...that and he wants another go at EW, he's got a joke about a Henry hoover he wants to tell him...It's going to kick off again...

Lycan – Nick Lowe wrote The Beast in Me for Johnny Cash – IIRC he was/is his SIL. Both are great but I think Nick Lowe’s version just edges it for me. I put a YT of it on my BH Blog



I do like Cutler – he can never replace Herrick but he has a neat turn of phrase, very different to any we’ve seen before. Herrick was very flowery when he got into his stride while Cutler is rather New Labour...



Wondering if he and Hal have the same maker??? Or is Cutler an upstart and the battle could be between the OO and the Young Ones?!

Aqua, I can see not everyone wanting to go down the vamp overlord way, not everyone of the Old Ones, let alone the Young Ones can agree on everything...Maybe the welcoming party for that ship will be a bit hotter than the Old Ones think it will be...

And if the older vamps all have periods of not being quite as evil as they used to be...like Hal says in his prequel...will everybody be at the right place in their "evil" stages...ow my head is staring again...

76 - Hi aqua. I got the impression that Cutler wants to impress the OOs - that was why he started up the focus group - his *let's show them something even more terrifying* idea. He was trying to put something in motion that would get him a pat on the back from the OOs, I think.

I haven't got any 'green box' but like I said before - it happens when there is a lot of traffic on the BBC at peak times such as lunchtime - i.e. now and 6-7pm - it happens on all BBC Blogs you know, not just us.



Mods have to have their lunch and 'tea'. They cannot survive on blood alone!



73 - teamhal - never worry that you are barking up the wrong tree! We are all 'barking' here in more ways than one! It is very interesting that you mention the 'Alice in Wonderland' syndrome - what is that exactly please? Because Lord Toby has a bit of a theme with 'Alice' on the back boiler.



77 - Hiya Misty - I just want to say that I am really excited about the OOs coming - after 3 series of speculation about what they will be like, these OOs, they are finally on their way. What will they be like - someone on the blog said they had to be brainy, not just lucky, to survive as long as they have done. Imagine the boredom of living for thousands of years and seeing history repeating itself over and over again. And having the same conversations over and over again. No wonder Cutler and Ivan liked twitter!

Alice in Wonderland syndrome is really interesting - my brother is studying Neuroscience so I hear a lot about quirks of the mind! If anyone here finds that interesting I recommend the Oliver Sacks book "the man who mistook his wife for a hat"

I wouldn't say though that Hal has AIWS especially after reading that Gaurdian article - I think he's just a bit neurotic and obviously OCD which have been heightened after 55 years living in isolation with rigorous daily routine and the highly controlled environment of the Barber Shop.

Does anybody else find themselves thinking sometimes ..."If only Mitchell had done what Hal did, fully accept his vampireyness and separate himself from humanity ... he might...*sniff* ...still be w-with us!" Just sometimes...! :D

So the clip will be up soon - well sooner than it was in the morning.
