I simply love so much BH's soundtrack!! it's one of the things that made me fall in love with this show. I agree on the Bat for Lashes being a perfect choice for that parto of the episode, and Saved just turned the whole bible guys thing even more awkward, from my point of view..



we've been discussing ages on how Yes! fitted George's transformation scene so I won't add anything to that.

Interesting that 'Saved' selected itself! I hate 'happy-clappy' music normally but that track really lodges in the brain, I even had to go and look up who the artist was, a brilliant choice if you don't mind not being able to forget it for hours after.

why is it part 2? did they do one for S1 called thank u for the music too?

just listened to the piece of classical music they talked about - Miserere - think that worked really well as the backing for the hospital chapel and the face off between Mark and Mitchell. Very atmospheric.

Agree about episode 6 having the best soundtrack. I love Bat for Lashes and her music so fits BH.

MRT 12 - you must remember Sigh No More - stand out track from the whole series - when Carl sets up his suicide in his flat after Dan's death - and then it continues in the hospital when Mitchell comes to get him out? Carl standing naked over Dan's body (a bit incredible that given morgue procedures but great drama!) ... remember now??

mmh.. I definitely need to watch it again, ep 2 has always been a bit blurry for me, I guess when i wached it I was a bit sleepy..

I find it really interesting to hear the process of why such music was chosen and possible alternatives. Music can just make a scene complete and BHP have worked wonders! Also, a soundtrack would be absolutely amazing :D

Thanks for a new blog BHP! Mr Sellwood, you picked great songs this season. I've always loved the music in season 1 but this season was to a new level.



Particular song of choice was Mumford and Sons, really great choice!

On the special incidental music (will we get another blog on that?? please?) - I keep going back to the ep8 scene where Mitchell is on floor after Annie goes - the jarring music there just makes that scene. Terrific.

21 NWBG - Carl faked his suicide so they would stop looking for Dan's killer and he could get away. We queried it a bit on the blog at the time - can a vampire just make use of his "undeadness" like that? very convenient? And Carl as he left referred to himself as just being admin or paperwork or something. All a bit conveniently wrapped up - but again terrific drama around the relationships - as you say "he might not have been kind"

It also fits with the verdict on the toasted vampires - being already dead they didnt have smoke in their lings from the fire - so no murders to investigate.

29 - yes the coroner would have signed that one off OK - more believable than the sign-off of the two students in the park? a suicide pact? with her injuries? the police has their own reasons for covering it up - but his family just accepting that?? hard to swallow.

he was possibly quite shut off from his family, dating a vampire and all! they would probably keep quite private. His family would probably have always sensed something odd about the relationship, maybe this would explain it in a way they would understand. maybe not though! just speculation.

I meant the family of the student who was attacked in the park with his girlfriend but he survived and was treated by Lucy - and also given a crucifix by Lucy. She and Mitchell talked about his unlikely suicide in the mortuary - after the Police Inspector - sitting alongside the student's family - had announced the case closed on TV (watched by Mitchell)?

Thanks BHP. re: the Allegri Miserere in ep 7, the music fitted so well and the words (psalm 51) could have been written for Mitchell.

And the story of the piece also fits well with the episode - its having at one point been considered so sacred that its use was restricted to the Vatican only, with a penalty of excommunication for anyone else, relates, in my mind, to George and Annie in a way hoping to be 'excommunicated' from their supernatural natures by CenSSA. Don't know if that was part of your thinking, though or the usual over-analysis here!

ah yes, that was rather far fetched that a family would just believe that and move on - although I suppose while some people react to grief by trying to right the wrongs others just accept what has happened. Regardless of why or how he had died he wasn't coming back.

40 - Lucy seemed understandably miffed about his death - the crucifix she gave him would have seen off the vampires but she never did find out that the police were also involved - she didnt believe Mitchell about "the people".



Laurar - they did sit-down interviews with all three or maybe four just as filming finished - so we still have those to look forward to. BH Prod are teasing us - how unusual!!

Just finished re-watching ep7, at the beginning George keeps asking what time it is and looking at the clocks - confused. didn't realise before. Also the music and general sounds in this episode are fab. when Mitchell is in the kitchen at the end struggling between the two sides of himself noticed that when he is 'bad' Mitchell his eyes are blcak, not all black like vampire just the iris - its creepy. love this episode!

Right, apologies bloggers, as I'm wandering into this blog a bit blind tonight as I have only scanned through the blog as yet (will come back for a better read tomorrow, promise).



I "came in" to ask, can anyone remember whether the track, Hurt by Johnny Cash used in the S2? Don't laugh, but it was used on a Emmerdale trailer tonight(hubby is the Emmerdale fan in the house, honest!) The first thing I thought of when I heard it was BH.... & now it is bugging me! :S

ROSS now my panic attack is over coz im rubbish at technology and thought we were getting a playlist which i couldnt open !



i just want to say thank you for the music indeed!, what an amazing and dark series full of heart stopping moments the music doesnt just add to the atmosphere of an episode it actually tells us how the character is feeling at the time and makes us feel the same.

also i wanted to be a bit cheeky if i may and ask if you could possibly add 'PAINT IT BLACK' by Lee Mead from the rolling stones for mitchell it is the perfect song for him in series 3.

Morning all, what have I missed? Internet was playing silly buggars last night and as I result I left the house! I wandered into an establishment with some freinds and attempted to convert them to BH. When one of them suggested it was the British True Blood I quickly realised the error of my ways...

66. Annette. I'm not sure about Kemp being a ghost. I think that Kemp followed Lucy to the farmhouse because he had unfinished business which was to kill George, Nina and Mitchell.I think the door belonged to Lucy and Annie being a powerful ghost decided to do a smash and grab and get Kemp--which is why they haven't got a form for her to fill in --grabbing a human and taking him through the door. I did't see anything to lead us to believe that Kemp is a ghost, ok he was slumped on the floor--but just exhaustion, defeated etc. Remember in BH world they don't follow the usual rules, and turn things upside down and inside out, so I think a live and kicking slimeball like Kemp could easily be taken through the door. My humble opinion.

I had a minor heart attack a moment ago - couldn't read any comments! Phew!

Deadlysecret - I agree about Kemp not being a ghost, surely if this were the case there would have been more backstory and less guess work - if it had happened in the middle of the series and then we found out he had been a ghost in the finale than it would be different but I dont think they would wrap up a huge story like that and not say a thing if Kemp was a ghost. It seems that element of the story has been pretty much wrapped up and finished - though I have been known to have been really wrong before! Lol!



Also, I completely agree with comment about BH not following rules or logic and I have commented many times before about how there is no rulebook when it comes to this programme, which leads to exciting and very 'out-there' story lines. Anything is possible, which is what I think makes it great. It is not at all predictable, which is what makes everyone speculate, and love the show!

I don't think Kemp was a ghost either, it wouldn't seem to make any sense. It makes me wonder though if that means he might be able to make it back through another door at some point and cause the gang trouble again.

Also wondering what part Daisy might play in the threat in S3. What would Nina do if she met her? I think she'd recognise her because she could smell her on George that time. I bet there'd be a fight!

Oh and if they've brought back Herrick won't she want to try the same with Ivan?

Acidalia - I think there was some discussion over Herrick's return leaving an opening for Ivan's arrival a couple of weeks back, but I think that there will be repercussions of bringing Herrick back ie: he will be mentally unstable, or unable to be a 'proper' vampire or something like that. The reason I think this is purely because of the whole bringing Ivan back thing. If Daisy had known of a way to bring back a dead vampire surely she would have brought back Ivan before even considering bringing back Herrick if they come back to 'life' completely normal and returning to be as great as they one were?



Also, I think that if Daisy were to meet Nina, Nina would definitely notice the smell of Daisy's perfume. And am therefore guessing there probably would be something of a catfight - Nina will win - no contest :P

lurve-BH. Yes I think Kemp has run his course and is dead as a dodo. But as we both said, BH loves to make up it's own rules and come up with stories which we've never considered, but yet actually seem quite logical.

I've only recently discovered the blog and kicked myself for not finding it in time for the S2 launch event, that looked like a lot of fun. I just hope they do another one for S3 and I can get tickets.

I do love all the theorising about different aspects of it - as much as we'd all love to wave a magic wand and be watching the new series already, we'll enjoy it all the more for waiting.
