It's great to hear from Ross... this is what makes BH so great... getting to know everything behind the scenes! Makes us appreciate the series that much more!



I really don't know how you do it.... watch a scene and say that needs this music or that... but you do it perfectly! and time everything perfectly like with the "Sigh no more" think he sings "I know you" JUST as Nina recognizes Carl! it was brill! and has introduced me to so much new music too!

I have always thought that the music used in BH since the pilot has been such an important part of the show and I find it very interesting to find out how, why some of the songs and scores are chosen or created.

love the music, they alway seem to get it right, the right music fr the right mood, however they never sa anything about the instrumental music which is the bit i love the music, so mayb they could add tht in?

Thank you for the insights into BH's music. I would really like to know more about the instrumental tracks used in Series 2 ... is there any chance that these instrumental tracks will eventually be released on CD (or perhaps uploaded to the BBC3 BH site as MP3s)? Thank you!

And hooray! This is basically a massively detailed answer to a question I put on the Ask Toby blog post. (Not that I am claiming credit for it happening of course, it's just a nice coincidence)



The music of BH is really one of my (many) favourite things about the show. Every choice is surprising, compared to what other shows are doing, yet they all work brilliantly and its introduced several artist to my ears who I wouldn't have listened to before. So cheers, Ross! :)



Looking forward to seeing what the crazy accents are about, maybe some sort of flashback set in Eastern Europe ... or how about a holiday for Annie, George and Mitchell! :D - as if that would happen.



I hope we get another one of these for the last four episodes too. Pretty please, blog team?

I think the music tends to be the easy to 'get at' side. But only because it is so emotive and important. I heart season 1 music & this series has shown me music that I would never normally listen to.



Any music producers who are umming and ahhhing about whether they should allow their music to be sent to this series are seriously out of touch. I am still recc'ing music to twitter & beyond about Being Human S1/2 music finds.



You do an amazing & important job.. hope you didn't cry too much. ;) I've done that myself when 6 years of d/l's disappeared. The cry of 'Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!' could be heard from miles around.

i got a new person to watch he show last week and she loved it and has spent the last week watching my DVD of series 1 shes hooked now hehe



and i cant wait for Sunday its the only thing worth watching every weekend (although I'm parshall to abit of dancing on ice but shh! don't tell anyone)

I love all the choices for the BH music. without the really good music the show wouldn't be such a big hit :) Yay, its nearly sunday again. BH is the only highlight of my week at the momement (wow that sounds a bit sad lol)

Thanks BHProd for getting Ross to share his expertise and enthusiasm for the music used in BH2...I loved the list of music which BHProd put up not long agao aboout the music used in BH1 and look forward to similar list for this series....great to hear music new to me and to read about the amount of thought that goes into each music choice. Also want to add here how much I like Richard Well's music in both series.

Interesting comment about the 60s music which I think is tomorrow night's prequel or focus?...can't wait....and wondering about music in eps 6 with tracks from all those 'people with crazy European accents'....having grown up with people with crazy European accents I'm agog to find out who these musicians are!



I've only also just seen the last blog vid introducing Phil ( hi there) and want to join others in saying a HUGE thank you to Matt Bouch...I saw Matt at the Nottingham event in Oct and was struck by his sense of humour and great rapport with Colin and the cast. Give him a great send off!



Really looking forward to tomorrow's episode ..and not wishing to detract from the continuing, interesting (but at times 'rather serious') discussion on the 'tone' of BH2 to date on the last blog ....here's a thought for the morrow...

I think I found Richard Wells's muisic at beginning of Ep5 Series 1 really emotional to George's voice over absolutley mind blowing that I wish I could've been asked onto Desert Island Discs for my selections but there you go that aint gonna happen so I'll just celebrate your fab selections!

I am interested to see what Herrick is up to in the flashback, he's been such an influence on the show since his death, but it will be good to see him for real once more.

I was always curious as to where the name Herrick came from. I think I've cracked it. In the cartoon, Count Duckula has an arch enemy called Doctor von Goosewing, but his right hand man was called Heinrich! tenuous???!!!

(34) Just looking up the meaning of Herrick (as you do :D) and it means "war ruler". Interestingly appropriate.



While we are on the subject of names, does anyone know why Mitchell prefers to be called by his last name? No one ever calls him John, well only once as Big Bad John, maybe its since his army days being Private Mitchell or whatever he was and it just stuck. Maybe its worthy of an Ask Toby question?



It can't be a vampire thing because although we had Mitchell and Herrick, we also have Daisy, Ivan, Lauren and Seth who all use (probably) their first names.

Love the music for both series 1 & 2, especially Florence & The Machine used in trailer for Series 2 & during episode(s). I love Florence & the Machine nearly as much as BH!

BH production - are you serious in reminding us what time next episode is on? can't you tell we are all eagerly awaiting every word spoken & plot twists & turns? (did I go on a bit then?!).

Dorina - completely agree about the Aidan naked/semi naked covered in blood!

"Big Bad John" might be known as Mitchell because, in his youth, John was such a common name it would be something to differentiate him from all the other Johns.



And Count Duckula? Not sure about a link to Herrick, but he would make a good mascot or inspiration for the folk at Vampire AA, being a vegetarian vampire duck. But they might need his Nanny to look after them as well; she'd keep them in order. And make sure they were all eating properly!

Deadly furniture - I've wondered about the names thing but I put it down to people in some places take their surname not their real name, my best friend's dad was "monty" shortened from "montgomery" which was his surname (never did find out his real name, lol), also in some work places they tend to use surnames, when my dad was a postman they all used surnames apart from dad, who cos he came down from scotland was just called "Jock" and that stuck... tho they did tend to put a "y" on the end, like "Bridge" was "bridgey" type thing.

vampfan:..hi here...all indications are that Lenora and Aidan are ' a couple'. You and I and a few others spotted how close they were in Nottingham...they were practically joined at the hip in london on Jan 7th..imside and outside the theatre....she was standing right next to him when he was having a fag outside the theatre and when I gave her sweets and him chocs...they left togteher in a car ...they were together at the South Bank and Radio Times events recently and the Raido Times described them as the 'hottest couple at the event'. So...I rest my case...



Also spotted no mention of Nina in eps 5 credits...suspect that she won't make an appearance again until the next full moon! Looking forward to seeing Jason Watkins again this eve...his lines as Herrick had me rolling on the floor at times in series 1



Not sure about the use of surnames for only Herrick and Mitchell..can't really imagine them being called William or John throughtout the show,..would have diminished their power/presence somehow.

I do love a prequel, and this one has Josie, Herrick and Mitchell in the 60s. Should be interesting. :D



I enjoyed the pre-title monologue sequences in series one, but I think I like the mini-prequels a little bit more. I like how we are guarenteed to find out something from our characters' past every week, Mitchell has all this history to fill in which we have only scratched the surface of.



Anyone else prefer one over the other? I suppose Mitchell in his pants could swing the vote on this one. :D

Anglo, ewan: There is a clip on SFTW (about 30 mins in). It's with Annie and the ghost baby. It's a new clip (I've not seen it before)...before the clip we've seen where George comes home & sees Annie with the baby.

Last autumn most of bloggers were rabbiting on about 60s prequels and wanting to know more about Josie and Mitchell and their beginnings...hope it's an informative prequel and not just a couple of minutes....wouldn't it be great if they put the entire prequel (if it were possible) up on YT or BBC site for us to check out?

Hi gang..just watched SFTW...yeh saw the clip with baby, baby's mum and annie...explains what happened to them and why they ( mom and baby) haven't as yet passed over so to speak.

Lenora is so confident isn't she in interviews and these sort of situations..Russell too..and yet the gorgeous one seems to not quite have that level of confidence in interviews when on his own ( apart from when he's doing interviews for the blog) Caught where she talks about teaching Aidan to cook banana bread and how much he likes it and variations there in...



Ah BHProd ...yes...we are...and we aren't ...looking forward to seing those underpants tonight...and let's hope that scene with the awful hair doesn't last long....I can only say that it is not a groovy look for Mitchell!
