Just a quick note to say I'm going away for a little holiday but will be back on Thursday to do the remix show.

I was at Global Gathering last night..did some roving reporting for Pete Tong's show and then Djed on the 1xtra Sound Stage. Ended up playing mostly D&B and loving it. Was hoping to see Daft Punk but they got put back till later so missed them in the end. All the pics will be in on the site all weekend...so have a look when you get a chance. Have a lovely week and brace yourself for 2 hours of top remixes on Thursday! Whoop Whoop! x

Next week then - it's one of our themed shows, this time it's a Remix show. We'll be playing 2 hours of remixes only as chosen by you!

So step up then - we want your faves to compile next week's tracklist.

Hope you all have a great weekend. We're off to have a rave up at Global - hope to see you there.

    Til next week x

So I am slowly getting better. After 2 nights in in front of the telly and trying everything from hot curry to cold showers... finally my cold is leaving me. The birthday show is looming and looking good.. We are speaking to loads of our favourite and most prominent artists on the show.. everyone from Erol Alkan to Bugz In The Attic, to Drumsound and Bassline Smith to DJ Yoda, to High Contrast to Mylo. Playing all the classics from the last 2 years and some exciting new stuff aswell...

In terms of music..I am mostly listening to The Eraser by Thom Yorke..loving this album. Also, I found this Brazilian band on myspace called Cansei De Ser Sexy. 5 girls and 1 bloke, who make quirky dancy pop with really random bits in. Sometimes they sound like Le Tigre, sometimes they sound like Dire Straits. They're brilliant.

  1. Hot/cold/hot/cold

It's monday morning..I'm just back from a friends wedding in Surrey. It's still sticky hot and I've got a fierce head cold.. it feels wrong being all bunged up and snuffly in hot weather. I only have myself to blame. I Djed in Ibiza on Thursday night after the show..I played the first of 4 gigs on the terrace at Amnesia. After me was DJ Touche, then Seb Fontaine and then Dave Taylor, aka Switch. After my set, I caught up with Dave Taylor, who's been in Trinidad and India working with M.I.A on her new album. His track 'Abit Patchy' is coming out in September and he was telling me about some very interesting remixes which, fingers crossed, we can play on the birthday show this Thursday.

It was great being in Ibiza. I was only there for one evening but it felt like a mini holiday..and it got me totally excited about playing there for the rest of the summer..I got no sleep on Thursday night atall so made up for that on Friday. I spent Friday night pimping my myspace page and uploading more pictures onto there... am still waiting to get bored of myspace. On Saturday I went to lovebox, the festival that Groove Armada put on in Victoria Park in East London. And now i'm back and looking forward to the BIRTHDAY SHOW!!!!

Am gonna start putting together the playlist soon. Remember it will be entirely from your choices. thanks for your suggestions below.. let's keep them coming here this week! What are your favourite musical moments from the last two years of our show?

  1. your thoughts...

'I just wanted to say BIG respect going out to Lily Allen for not being afraid to dj old-school-style with her minimix. Two decks and a CDJ and no laptops in sight!
It's great to hear some of the minimixes with fifty or even a hundred odd tunes mashed up, but sometimes it's quality not quantity!'

thank you Codex. I completely agree. Lilly's mix was well impressive.. really well thought out and mixed so fair do's to her. What did you think of Groove Armadas?

Don't forget tomorrow we have Lilly Allen coming in live to the show to present her minimix. She is only the third lady we've had do one..(Miss Kittin and Alison Goldfrapp was the other) and it'll be cool to talk to her about her time in Ibiza and her Djing....

And if that's not enough, FINALLY, we have Groove Armada doing one too! so Groove Armada and Lily Allen in one show..along with music from Subfocus, Trick And Kubic, Ed Solo, MSTRKRFT and Vitalic...

I'll be going straight to Ibiza after the show to play the first of a few gigs for Cream on The Terrace at Amnesia. Am playing with Switch, DJ Touche and Seb Fontaine.. it should be fun. Will report back as always.. x

  1. BIRTHDAY

    • Annie Mac
    • 19 Jul 06, 05:09 PM

Well how hot is it? I actually have the blinds down in my livingroom to keep the sun out. I never thought I'd see the day. Am very hungover today due to my birthday celebrations in the park last night. My friends and I got carried away singing very loudly and doing cartwheels and realised we got locked into Regents Park. I still can't believe we all got over the fence...

So now I am 28 and next week my radio show is 2! You may or may not remember last years celebrations at Maida Vale studios. with High Contrast and Switch and Mylo and Alloy Mental..it was a lot of fun. This year we are keeping the celebrations studio based, with a minimix mark 2 from High Contrast and we'll be chatting to some of the people who have made our favourite music over the years including, Drumsound And Bassline Smith, Justice, Bugz In The Attic, Erol Alkan, Mylo, A Skillz and more. I want the music to be a mix of all your favourite tunes from the past 2 years so here's where you come in.

Let me know the tunes and the moments from the show that have stuck in your head since we started in July 2004. I promise we will program the whole show around your choices..

  1. RADIO MARATHON..

    • 13 Jul 06, 11:49 PM

Just got home to a phonecall asking me to do Jo Whiley's show tomorrow. So the marathon continues..

Did you enjoy the show this week? I played new music from The Rapture, Krafty Kuts, Jurassic Five, Stanton Warriors, Cut Copy, Chase And Status, Pharrell And Kanye West, Lazy B, Spiller and J Dilla. What did you think of Lee Coombe's minimix?

Next week we have Groove Armada and Lily Allen in the minimix. Two very different artists but both integral to the show in their own ways.. Groove Armada are dance music legends and Lilly Allen is a mad little party girl! It should be interesting.

  1. wow!

  1. EPIC WEEKEND

    • Annie Mac
    • 12 Jul 06, 08:02 AM

Hey hey,... its just after 8am..have cycled home from work after doing early breakfast..Am feeling very awake. I've spent all morning having an on air debate about spiders and now I'm too afraid to go to bed in case I run into one. Pathetic I know.

It's been an epic weekend since I last posted... There was the show on Thursday which I loved and then I flew to Belfast on Friday to play at Shine's new club Stiff Kitten. It has a funktion one soundsystem which was a dream to play on. I had got a bit cocky with how few records I could carry and ended up running out of CDs so had to have a bit of an indie disco for the last 20 minutes but noone seemed to mind. The crowd was great, and I rolled into bed at 3am to be up for 7am for a flight to Scotland for T In The Park.

I was covering for Sara's shows all weekend and did all the shows out and about on site. It was alot of fun, I spoke to everyone in the artists village from Lily Allen to Hard Fi to Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs to Dirty Pretty Things. After each radio show I went straight to the make up room and then did links for Top Of The Pops which was on last night on BBC2. Please check out all the photos here..
    T in the Park

I arrived back in London late on sunday night and fell into bed so I could get some sleep before doing Jo whiley's show on Monday. Since then I've been doing the early breakfast shows... Rachel from the show came round on Monday and we spent 2 hours getting very excited about the new Friday night show..thinking of ideas and features. We are also preparing a treat for the birthday show coming up in a few weeks. And the week after that is the remix show. It's all happening!

So we're back to normal tonight... we've got Cajmere in the minimix and I'll be playing you lots of new music, from The Roots to Para One to a Mock And Toof Madonna Bootleg to new A Skillz..

Check out the list of Minimixers we've got over the coming few weeks...

    Lee Coombes
    Steve Lawlor
    Lily Allen
    Groove Armada
    Tom Novy

We've also decided on our next theme show..it's a whole show of the best remixes ever made. As always with the theme shows, the tracks will be chosen by me and you. I want my favourite remixers of the moment, Tocadisco, to do us a mix that week..they've already remixed Mylo's In My Arms, Todd Terry and Philippe B and The Egg's Walking Away to prefection...I'll let you know if it happens..

  1. paris paris..

Ah yes. There's nothing like spending the morning vomiting in the toilets of the Eurostar. A Great way to begin the week. It all started so innocently as well. I was asked to play at a club night in Paris called Colette Dance Class, based around Colette, one of France's most famous shops. The evening begins with a dance class and last night it was The Vogue. It was an all female DJ lineup and I was to headline. I started drinking at about midnight and had maybe 4 vodkas. The problem was the measures were like nothing I've ever seen before. Vodka, with a dash of diet coke. I knew I was in a bad way when I got on the mike just before I put my first record on and yelled 'Hello Paris Paris! Je M'Apelle Annie Mac!!'.

I had a very busy weekend, I did Sarah Coxes weekend shows again and flew to Derry on Saturday night to play at the brilliant Celtronic Festival. I love playing Derry, the energy from the crowd is unparalleled, and it means you can really experiment musically. I played a really hard set and dropped loads of new stuff, a track off the Para One album, the new Sebastian track Ross Ross Ross which is incredible and the 'Put your Hands Up for Detroit' track by Fedde Le Grande. That sounded ridiculous. I spent a grand total of 6 hours in derry as I got picked up at 6am to go to the airport. I fell asleep on the plane with a newspaper over my face and 2 hours later, in Starbucks in central London, it was pointed out to me that I was walking around with a black face from the newspaper ink.

This weekend coming I'm back in northern Ireland to play Stiff Kitten in Belfast and then am flying to Scotland to do Sara Cox's shows from T In The Park.

I'm really looking forward to this weeks show. There's so many new tunes to play... I know Tayo played that Freestylers/Pendulum tune last week so I might have to play that again, along with something from this new Para One album. It's brilliant, in a Daft Punk, Justice way. We've got Cajmere in the minimix.. you may know him as Green Velvet, either way he is a pioneer and is still making brilliant tunes today. His mix of Juan Macleans 'Give Me Every Little Thing' get's played in nearly every set I do. I wonder what his minimix will be like?
