Halfway to the Moon

Anne Diamond

I've always wanted to go to the Moon. I am truly a child of the space age, staying up late every night there was an Apollo Moonshot and believing that, by the time I was an adult, we'd all be holidaying on the Moon.

It didn't quite work out like that. Now I'm a busy mum, Chauffeur to four sons. I've driven hundreds of miles ferrying my sons around from school to football, choir, judo etc. Now at last some study somewhere has acknowledged my contribution. Because statisticians now reckon that parents taxi their children a staggering 125,817 miles before they are old enough to drive themselves, which is about halfway to the Moon.

With four children, all of whom had different activities at different times, that means I've completed at least two Moonshots already.
