There's a story doing the rounds that this is going to be the worst year ever for hayfever sufferers - because the late spring and sudden explosion of flowers and foliage has brought about the 'perfect storm' of pollen. So, we thought, we'd do something about that on the programme today. I googled 'worst hayfever ever' and found a dozen news stories corroborating the rumour. Great, I thought - it must be true. But then, hang on, many of those news stories were from 2012, and a few dated 2011, and several (almost all of them with the same headline) going back further in time. After further research, it seems that there's a record hayfever problem and abnormal pollen count every year. Or maybe it's just that us sufferers like an annual whinge. Sniff.
