Do truth and reconciliation comissions bring lasting peace?

well done Ivory Coast.you have done a wonderful thing on earth for other countries to follow.Truth and reconciliation are the best examples.Countries like Uganda,Kenya,south Sudan and many others should follow this to done by ivory Coast.Drogba must show the Africans out there.They there not just for football making money but preaching the Truth and reconciliations.

I want to personally thank Didier Drogba for his leadership. I would like to see the commission address the issue of how we treat war casualties during conflicts in Africa. If we understand the importance of human dignity, I am sure we have the ability to as promptly as possible remove our dead from the streets before they rot away.

If well representing,truth and recocilliation is very important and efficacious because there is no peace without justice.The principle of no victor no vanquish is a landmine in a calmed atmosphere. Nigeria embraced the principle of no victor no vanquish instead of truth and recociliation and that is one of the reasons the wound kept re-opening in Nigerian politics.

I believe TRC is intended to heal the wounds of any nation irrespective of where; but my nation Liberia is not like that. Warlords here don't regret their pasts and wrong doings here. They were not even apologetic what a shame. We won't easily forgive them.

Dialogue is always better than guns but then having said that, the pain endured can never be truly overcome. Peace!

TRC is not new in African Political culture because our for Fathers were settling Social issues on compromise based on Truth. The current Generation has failed the African People because they believe more in the Barrel of the Gun than Round Table discussion for settling issues. X Colonizers have played the Tribal Card for their benefit but it is time for Africa to wake up and revive TRC

Even the most skilful negotiators will only achieve a normalisation of relationships between the conflictual parties. This conflict is too deep than it looks in the eyes of ordinary analysts.

I think its worth giving a try. Lets see how its goes and my prayer is that it works. cheers
