What do you know about neurological disorders?
BBC Africa Have Your Say is having one of its regular medical check-ups and this time, we're looking at neurological disorders.
These occur when there is a disorder of the body's nervous system which can then lead to paralysis, muscle weakness, poor co-ordination and seizures among other symptoms.
Migraines, back and neck pain, epilepsy, dyslexia and cerebral palsy all count as neurological disorders.
But how much do you know about what causes these conditions and their treatment? Do you know what to do if you suspect yourself, or someone you know, to be suffering from a neurological disorder?
If you would like to put your questions and concerns to our neurologist LIVE on air on Thursday 7 October at 1600 GMT, please include a telephone number. It will not be published.

Doctors have confirmed shortly after his birth that its a neurological problem but since then, they don't seem to have any solution to the problem. Please if the the neurological experts could help us with some advice it would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot BBC.

In 1979, just prior to Independence, many Africans in our area were exposed to poisoned underwear(Paraoxon, according to witnesses at Bishop Tutu's Truth & Reconcilliation Commission). In addition, my food was poisoned on several occasions, presumably with Thallium (witnessed, related to me in 2004 and diagnosed in retrospecct by symptoms). Local survivors of the poisoned underwear complained of numbness in hands and feet and muscle weakness increasing over the years. I was forced to retire from medical practice in 2000 with the same before fully realizing what was causing these symptoms. Nerve conduction tests show damage to the long tracts in my legs. Now walking is becoming increasingly difficult and painful. There is a decrease in dexterity, balance and sometimes short-term memory, thinking and speech. Attacks are preceded by muscle fasciculations. Fortunately, there is improvement with several days to a week of rest. Vitamin D noticeably helps, but not much else. I can find little in the literature regarding long-term care of survivors of significant poisoning. I am sure there are others in southern Africa similarly affected from that time. Can you help?
