Can Africa stay in the World Cup race?
It is crunch time for South Africa's Bafana Bafana. Their next game against France will decide whether the host team will continue in the World Cup race.
The match takes place in Bloemfontein, a rugby-oriented Afrikaaner stronghold. We will be joining our reporters in Bloemfontein to find out how much local interest the game is generating.
Back in 1995 the Rugby World Cup was credited with having a hugely positive effect on race relations in the country. Will this World Cup have a similar effect?
Will any African teams make it to the next round of the World Cup? What hopes do you have for your favourite team?

As a Nigerian, I am utterly disappointed with the performance of the Super Eagles. I am not hurt by the fact that they have been eliminated from the competition but by the lamentable waste of scarce resources in hiring Lars Lagerback. Check this out. In the 2002 world cup with an indigenous coach, Nigeria posted the following results in the group games: 0-1, 1-2 and 0-0. In 2010, under a foreign coach who is probably paid 20 times what the indigenous coach (Onigbinde) was paid, the results are 0-1. 1-2 and 2-2; no difference. The Western apologists may say that Lagerback had little time to train the team, but he knew that he wouldn't have anytime before he took the job so if he was not comfortable he should have turned it down. If the Super Eagles had qualified (which they could have if they had been more clinical against South Korea), he would have taken the glory so he should also take the blame.
As for the foreign players, they don't care and this is evident in the obvious lack of passion to win in their display. Tevez and Messi are playing for one of the best teams in the tournament, but their willingness to chase lost causes is admirable. Field the home-based players; they are hungry, they want to win and they will play the Nigerian way (with skill and speed) so that even if we go out, we will go out with pride. These bunch of players have been de-skilled by playing in Europe - they can't dribble, they can't shoot - they can only play in an assembly-like system and are as useful in the national team as a pair of football boots. [Unsuitable/Broken URL removed by Moderator]In 1994 Nigeria did not win the world cup, but we won the World! The incompetent people running football in Nigeria should listen and learn.

The hosts are already out after putting up a brave victorious fight against the dispirited French.
One draw, one defeat, one win - overall a very dignifying performance.
I do hope at least one African team moves forward to the next 1/16 stage.
Africans or African descendants have over the years been among the best and most creative players anywhere.
I found African teams generally playing beautiful football to high standards in South Africa's 2010.
Their shots into goal in need of greater sophistication (and efficacy) though.

And what hear the ghanaians say today is, all the eleven players should stay in the goal post till the end of the game. Even though the last time we met the germans the beat ghana 6 - 1 am sure we will be able to hold our own in today's game.
Remem like it is said "the dog does not bite at past events" but i will say "the dag bites when past events are revived or repeated", that should tell you that the black stars are coming to this game to redeem the 6- 1 win over us some years ago. go go gooooooooooooo Ghana for we the gate way to Africa and the black star that shines no matter where it finds its self.

Nigeria is most notorious about this. And despite Ghana strong performance so far, the lone goal scored against them today by Germany also proved this flaw in defense. Clearly, whether or not Ghana will make it pass the second round will depend on whether they are able to make this adjustment as well as being able to improve their striking ability on the other end.

Folks when I discussed with a friend he laughed at me pointing out that Ghana lost strategically. This is the World Cup of all competitons not a game of ampe (even that requires smart thinking). If we had drawn with the Germans, we would have topped our group and it will mean pitching our strength against the English team. US is a softer option. We beat the last time and we will continue to beat them whether they like it or not, even if they have 77 Donovans, and they know it!! So by placing second in our group we positioned our team to move towards the finals and that is where we are heading. Watch what happens. allow the analysts to continue their wild conjectures. Ghana is busy strategising. This is the time for the brain work not just the throwing of legs.
Folks the World Cup is about COUNTRIES not CONTINENTS!! So let no one disturb me with his African generalisation speak. What did anyone say about France and Italy bowing out of the competition. Nothing about Europe or the Europeans. I support Ghana and i will choose which other country I want to support not spend time on an entityt that is not participating in the competition. Go Ghana Go!! It is about Ghana not Africa!!

The intersting pick is the big news about how the ninth worst economy in in the world defeated a rich and probably one of the world's best economy. I dont even know where the effect of this statement is and it is referred without citation for the attention of those analysts who fail to pay attention to essentials and spend time on issues that are unrelated when it comes to football!! Ghana chose to meet the USA and we have achieved our objective. Uruguay is next and slowly the miracle will become obvious.

As I said long time ago, Only the captain of each team has up to 3 challenges during the whole match to challenge referees decision using technology
And to avoid a ball bouncing in the goal passing the line and then bouncing back out just as it happen in the Germany4:1 England match,
All the football fields in the world must have the inner ground of the goal in a lower level ground starting from the goal line at the normal ground level and getting lower as it gets to the back end of the net, that would definitely stop all the balls bouncing in getting back outside the goal.
(Look at attachment 3d picture I did…sorry I’m terrible at drawing)
This needs to be done ASAP
