Now in its sixth year, The NI Music Prize has announced a new home for 2018 and will be held in the Ulster Hall, Belfast on Thursday, November 15th. Since its formation in 2013 the award show has traditionally been held in the Mandela Hall but due to its closure has had to relocate.

Previous winners include Foy Vance (2013), Robyn G. Shiels (2014), SOAK (2015), Ciaran Lavery (2016) and most recently Joshua Burnside in 2017. It has also commemorated notable figures in music from Northern Ireland with the ‘Oh Yeah Legend Award’ with past recipients including the likes of Vivian Campbell, Ash, The Divine Comedy, Therapy?, Gary Moore and Henry McCullough.

The prize celebrates albums released from Northern Ireland between August 2017 and August 2018 with the winner decided an academy of voters co-ordinated by the Oh Yeah Music Centre. The current longlist of album is available on the NI Music Prize website.
