Plague Artists – ‘I Wouldn’t Ask’

Thursday 19th November 2015

They Say:“The track 'I wouldn't ask' is a new recording from us exclusive to the Scratch My Progress programme. As part of the programme we were given practice sessions and studio time to record a brand new track for the Scratch EP. As we practiced at Oh Yeah we picked up on the punk vibe in the practice rooms, with lyrics and imagery of The Clash on the walls. With this in mind we set about writing a song with a more punk feel whilst remaining true to the overall sound we aim for. So many great bands have arisen from here and one in particular - Therapy? - are a big influence on us. We may not be as heavy as they are but the way in which they arrange their songs and the influences they incorporate never ceases to amaze. We think that its undeniable that the feel of the track has the energy and feel which could be compared to how the Foo Fighters arrange their verses and choruses, however we think that the breakdown / middle 8 of the track highlights the alternative influences of the Plague Artists, from bands such as Soundgarden and maybe even Tool. Ultimately we set about to record a track which would grab a potential new listener's ear and hold their attention with the hope that they would enjoy it and want to hear more.... here's hoping!”

We Say: "Noisy and assured these days, Plague Artists add to their increasingly impressive arsenal of riff-tastic would-be anthems with another four minutes of impressive noise. With the band in such form, we’re impatient for an album”.

‘I Wouldn’t Ask’ is from Scratch My Progress Vol.4 which features Plague Artists alongside Sister Ghost, Owen Denvir and Treehome.
