Petty Youth – 'Take Me Away'
Friday 18th November, 2016
They say:"Take Me Away was recorded as part of the Scratch My Progress Volume 5 compilation. In its 3 and a half minutes we feel it encapsulates everything that Petty Youth represents - caustic garage rock 'n' roll riffage, big glam-punk hooks, gang vocals and blues-jam freakouts. The inspiration for the song was the insatiable urge to get away from it all and the vices we indulge in to reach that place - rightly or wrongly. It's Petty Youth at its most uncompromising and raw."
We say: "Huge guitars, pounding drums and that gritty vocal make for what is a hugely confident track. There’s a hint of the Hives’ Pelle Almqvist’s vocal styling in the verses, before the chorus erupts, adding another layer to what is already a huge sounding song."
‘Take Me Away' is on Oh Yeah's 'Scratch My Progress' EP which is out now. The EP was also featured on Across The Line's 'The Making Of...'. Petty Youth are supporting Murderburgers at The Barge, Belfast on the 26th of November.
