Exit Pursued By Bear – Houses Falling

Monday 21st November, 2016

They say:
“The song owes a lot to Niall - he came up with the initial musical idea and keyboard sound, and kept the chords and structure simple. That allowed us to do a lot with the sounds and instruments when recording the track. With such a simple structure we could do a lot with guitar melodies and sounds, and the vocal harmonies. Sean and Niall had a lot of fun layering the track with loads of guitar parts and crazy sounds in the studio. The track owes a lot to Radiohead, and it's a fun one to play live with all the dynamics going on. It's also got a deliciously synced rhythm section going on too, it was a lot of fun getting the drums and bass together."

We say: “Here’s a song which, on first listen, might sound like it’s struggling to work out what is. Starting out on acoustic guitar, it’s soon epic and noisy, with a warm keyboard driven breakdown that seems to recall ‘Everything in its Right Place’ by Radiohead. Quite a lot to take in, right? The sonic adventure is fun to follow and - somehow - it all works. Such an ambitious piece of music - but they’ve really pulled it off.”

From Limavady, Exit Pursued By Bear are Conor Crampsie (drums & percussion), Ronan Hart (bass guitar), Michael Mc Macken (guitar & vocals), Sean Mullan (lead guitar) and Niall Dalton (guitar, piano and vocals). ‘Houses Falling’ is out now.
