Parapa Palace – Before The Dark Times

Monday 12th June, 2017

They say:
“Before The Dark Times was a line from an article about Brexit I was reading, and I thought it would make a good song title. It’s quite a dramatic over the top title to what is essentially an indie pop song.

I wanted to do a track that had more of a spoken word verse and I fitted in lyrics about my own annoyances and things like that. Musically it's very straight forward, with an easy chord structure and I think a quite stooges stompy feel to the track.

We recorded BTDT and the two other tracks from our new EP with Graham Davidson in Half Bap studios just over from The Duke of York in Belfast. They haven't been going too long but it was a cool place to go and we are really happy with the way it turned out!”

We say: “Rough and ready, ‘Before The Dark Times’ is a grizzly, doom laden tune and a half, from the County Down four piece.

It’s got the dramatic delivery of Muse coupled with the straight forward, no nonsense riffage of the Foo Fighters. A bona fide banger, more please!”

‘Before The Dark Times’ is from Parapa Palace’s new EP ‘Subterrane’ which is launched on Friday 14th July at Voodoo Belfast with MOSA and Ghost Office.
