Rosie Carney – Awake Me

Thursday 20th April, 2017

They say: “Awake Me is a song written about an awakening of sorts, a realisation of self. It's a very honest and confessional song I feel I had to write for myself. It took me a while to come to terms with the things that have happened in my life, and although some things still baffle me, I understand now why these things happened, and how pivotal these experiences were to changing my perspective and supplying me with courage."

We say: "Quietly powerful, she’s an artist reaching for meaning and inner resources after severe trauma. To her credit, Rosie does manage to reach some kind of illumination at the end. Heavy listening in the tradition of Joni Mitchell's 'Blue'."

‘Awake Me’ is the latest single from Donegal’s Rosie Carney, who is the Artist in Residence for this year's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, and embarks on a UK and Ireland tour this summer.

As often as possible Across the Line aims to bring you a great new, recent or interesting track each day, Monday to Friday. To get your new music to Across the Line send it via the BBC Introducing Uploader
