The Emerald Armada – Hard and Honestly

Friday 19th February 2016

They Say: “Hard & Honestly has been on the table in various formats for a few years now. Ben first got the riff while on tour in 2013, just before a show in London if I remember correctly. We batted around different lyrics and themes for a while. It kind of went cold after that. But we finally picked it back up. It's actually based on an old biblical story. About how the world once believed that through the kindness of one man, we could make a better place for ourselves. Whether you're religious or not, it's a great example of kindness, love and faith in humanity. You can see why it took us so long to put it out there. It's not your typical party tune people expect from us…that’s why we threw in the bad ass samba riff!!' :)

We say: “With their recently announced ‘Paddy’s Show’ - which is now in its fifth year, we remind ourselves of one of the (many) standout tracks from The Emerald Armada’s arsenal. This one is taken from their late 2015 E.P ‘Made For More’. The lyrics talk of broken hearts but this is no sombre waltz. It’s another stirring, driving track from a band that makes such a big sound seem effortless.”

The Emerald Armada play their annual St Patrick’s Day show at the McHughs Basement, Belfast on 18th March, with support from Joshua Burnside and Runaway GO.
