NEWT - Climax
Thursday 23rd June, 2016
They Say: “Brendan Gallagher [guitar and vocals] of NEWT here. "Climax" is an expression of being able to let go and embrace positivity.
It was written by myself a few years ago and has slowly taken shape. It was all recorded in my garage and I actually performed all of the instruments and vocals for this song and our other guitarist Kealan Toland mixed and mastered the song.
We two, along with the bassist Vincent Fahy and drummer Stephen Kelly are eager to reach as many people as possible with the band's music and establish ourselves as a great live act.
My influences include Foo Fighters, Nirvana, ASIWYFA, The 1975, FOALS, Biffy Clyro and Steely Dan. I was fortunate to find other band members with similar tastes to my own; and so we became NEWT.”
We Say: “‘Climax’ is an intriguing fusion of spiky, funk-laden riffs, smooth yacht-rock licks and slacker-ish vocal harmonies. It’s a strange brew that somehow works really well, with a rollicking sense of fun permeating the whole thing.”
Billing themselves as a blend of 'party beats and math rock melodies', NEWT hail from Derry~Londonderry.
