Catherine Hatt – Green Shoes
They say – “I like thumb pianos which aren't tuned to any key, the notes are random so each song is distinctive to the thumb piano and can't really be replicated by anything else. I had just returned from a jive dancing holiday in Barcelona so I was appreciating my feet. They are the two key influences. The thumb piano somehow sounds like toes. My friend Rob produces heavy rock music but he helped me record my footsteps for this. I danced on a piece of wood in his home studio. He was always positive about my ideas and helped me start recording. Now I self-produce and have recorded other musicians in my own studio at home.”
We Say – “Ridiculously dinky and cute, this track had the potential to be a little much. But the tiniest hint of mischief in Catherine's voice makes it a particularly likable stand out from her recent album 'Sweetcorn'”
Catherine Hatt will play Sunflower Bar Belfast this Sunday (28th September).
