Monkeeman - Pressure

They Say: "During the writing process for our new album Lo Fi Against Low Lifes, I was listening to a lot of the bands that I grew up with (on vinyl of course!) There were The Jam, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones and many more. Looking back after all these years these bands had something to say and meant it, something that gets lost in times of X Factor and all these casting **** shows. Sounds from the Street. We wanted to do an album in that spirit and Pressure sums it up perfectly. Its about the gap between rich and poor getting bigger and bigger and the pressure growing from all sides. Its hidden in a catchy and danceable tune, dance on your problems, that’s what it is!

We didnt plan to record that in our first ever session in Berlin but one of the three Martys said at a practice let’s try it and it was a great decision. It became the first single off the album and went into the college radio charts in Germany."

We Say: Plenty of debate as to whether we can claim this lot as our own, given their singer is a guy called Ralf from Germany. But the rest of the band? Three Martys from Belfast! The reason we’re so keen to bill them as local is down to the fact they’re a consistent source of the type of incredibly poppy indie rock n’ roll you just don’t get that much of these days.
