Soak – Knock Me Off My Feet
Soak’s surprising and delightful late 2018 return with the dreamy and determined ‘Everybody Loves You’, was simply wonderful. And now we’ve been treated to ‘Knock Me Off My Feet’, the second single to be taken from upcoming album Grim Town. Upbeat and optimistic, with jittering drums and Cure-esque piano, it’s a song about a young girl returning to the home town she yearned to leave as a kid, after fulfilling her dream. Finding home different and at times isolating, she remains stubbornly determined not to fall out of love.
There’s vodkas in late night karaoke bars with cracked disco balls, and fireworks falling from the sky. Throughout however, there’s a love that can’t be shaken, and a determination that lies within all Derry people that home stays in their bones. Despite how grim the town might sometimes seem, it will always remain home.
