Neon Atlas - Velocity
They Say: “'Velocity' is the first single to be taken from our sophomore album 'Graffiti Reality' which comes out 31st July 2015. I guess it reflects the slightly riff-heavy side to some of the tracks on the album that's been developed since Neon Atlas' first long-player 'Absolute Magnitude'. However, melody remains an important part of the music, and I guess we've tried to meld some of these melodic sensibilities with the growing sonic presence of the band as a whole. The album was recorded over the period of a year, and influences were wide and varied throughout this time. Often tracks were written when listening to an achingly beautiful band like 'Alvvays' but recorded in a contrasting aggressive musical environment weeks or months later, the result being an album that tries to translate a wide range of influences and emotions into what is hopefully a coherent and fluid piece of work. But you can be the judge of that I guess.”
We Say: “Hard to beat a solid, catchy riff - and that’s what helped bury this one into our brains. Fantastic drumming and a sneering vocal also played their part in a pretty relentless three minutes of indie-pop gold.”
