As announced earlier this week Belsonic is moving to Ormeau Park in Belfast for 2017 and will play host to Jess Glynne on June 22nd and electronic duo Axwell /\ Ingrosso on June 30th with special guests to be announced for both dates. The festival which originally began in 2008 in Custom House Square moved to the Titanic Slipways for 2016 and for it’s ninth year will come from Ormeau Park.

In other news The Coronas have been announced for the 2017 Sea Sessions, they played the festival five years ago but now return as headliners alongside Primal Scream. Situated on the beach in Bundoran and running from Friday June 23rd to Sunday June 25th, the festival, now in it’s tenth year will also feature surfing, skating, BMX and beach sports.

Also Indiependence returns to Mitchelstown in Cork from Friday August 4th to Sunday August 6th with the Manic Street Preachers, The Coronas and Sigma. The festival which has been held at Deer Farm since 2010 has hosted the likes of De La Soul, Public Enemy and David Holmes, and will announce more acts in the coming year.

Closer to home, the festive period sees a busy schedule of gigs locally, with Andrew Weatherall & David Holmes, Sullivan & Gold and BICEP all performing, as well as ‘Stay Human – A Benefit for Refugee Rescue’ featuring Empty Lungs, Beauty Sleep, Little Matador and a secret headliner among others.
