Wake America - Silly Boy (in session for ATL)
Monday 13th June, 2016
They say: "Silly Boy is a track about regret. About 9 months ago I found my Da’s old Yamaha CS40M synth in the attic. I spent about a week trying to fix it but to no avail. So, I joined a Facebook group that focuses on old analog gear and I swapped it for a 1982 Polysix analog synth.
A German guy posted it over I and sent him the CS40M. The power of analog is intense and quite addictive. A chunk of every day since has been spent on Wake America material and I feel like I’ve really got a ‘sound’ now. It has been amazing to watch the Wake America project move from strength to strength, with the amazing support from Radio Ulster/Foyle now being complemented by the likes of BBC 6Music.”
We say: “With its yearning vocals, warm vintage synths and fuzzed out guitar hook, ‘Silly Boy’ is an epic track in the truest sense. This is made all the more surprising given that this huge sound was generated by just two musicians, live in session for ATL."
Wake America is a project by Eoin O’Callaghan of Derry~Londonderry outfit, Best Boy Grip. You can catch Wake America at this year’s Celtronic Festival, which runs from June 29th – July 3rd.
