Katie Laffan - Trophy
Friday 2nd December, 2016
They say:“Trophy is me saying to one of my mates that their fella isn't treating them right. It's a bit different to my usual sound as well, but I always play it in my live set so I wanted to show with that, I'm not all funky junkie and to expand my sound.
I usually look up to Jamiroquai, Dianna Ross, The Ting Tings and Kool and the Gang, anything disco, funky or punk-pop for writing songs and I still do. Trophy is a different vibe though, but that's what I wanted and I'm delighted with the support it's gotten.”
We say: “Trophy sees Dublin funk-pop artist Katie Laffan slowing things down – a dreamy, cautionary tale with a minor-key synthwave influenced backdrop. As ever, Katie’s vocals and bare-bones honest lyrics are the stars of the show, but the production is really on point too with soaring keyboard licks taking the track to another level.”
Katie Laffan is set to perform at Other Voices' Music Trail this Saturday 3rd December, at 6:30pm in Paul Geaney's Bar, Dingle.
