LARKS – Tired Eyes & Broken Glass

Thursday 9th February 2017

They say: “ ‘Tired Eyes’ tells the story of someone lying in bed, waiting in hope that their loved one will come home and sleep next to them. It describes the emptiness and anticipation one holds while looking around the empty room they lie in. I wanted the song to feel very dreamlike and I feel like the haunting vocals capture this well.

Broken Glass is a song that describes how giving a little more can go a long way, and how nobody knows what the future holds, so you just have to try your best: 'We can amount to something if we keep climbing, the road ahead is all we've got..' I also touch upon about how ignoring our problems will only lead to more problems; 'We are standing on broken glass, if you can't feel it, then this will never last'. The song has a positive feel about it, but the lyrics are actually quite despondent.”

We say: “This is a fascinating glimpse into Fiona's artistic development. The sparse nature of the recording puts an emphasis on the voice and it works perfectly. She also brings potent drama to the lyric. While there may well be future adventures with Runaway Go, Fiona is capable of solo distinction.”

You can listen to a live version of ‘Tired Eyes’ via LARKS official website.
