Arvo Party - Grüv
Tuesday 12th January 2016
They Say: “I guess, with that particular track, I was trying to find little spaces in which to hide a movement and see how it affected the overall 'groove/Grüv'. It's all an experiment, I suppose. In the last year or so, I've been listening to a lot of Jon Hopkins, Apparat, Lindstrøm and Kindness; so I would suppose that they might have had an influence, musically, on what comes out when I'm sat at a keyboard. That and trying something new - New for me, at least.”
We Say: “Weird that this is the work of Herb Magee, who we associate with colossal riffs and the noisy guitarings of LaFaro. But here he is messing about on a laptop, warping beats and fiddling with synths. Colourful, wonky, hypnotic.”
Grüv features on the ‘Tintinnabuli’ EP – one of two EPs both released by Arvo Party on 4th January 2016.
