Arvo Party - Nordstrom
Friday 6th January, 2017
They say: “Rhythm and texture are the very make up of music but this track was/is an exercise in capturing or suggesting an emotion, rather than promoting sound, texture or rhythm.
It was written in a daze and makes me want to stare out of car windows, missing people I haven’t even met yet. It was very nearly called Deckard’s Lament, I have no idea what a ‘Nørdstrøm’ is."
We say: "With a background in the noisiest of projects it’s maybe a little surprising that Arvo Party, AKA Herb Magee, has delivered subtle, uplifting electronica as his solo project – but then good music (and musicianship) is often about branching out and re-inventing.
Nørdstrøm is synthwave at its most optimistic and expansive, a cool cruise through imaginary sonic streets, with perhaps just a hint of danger lying beyond the neon lights."
Nørdstrøm is taken from Arvo Party's brand new pay-what-you-want EP, '1/1/2017'.
