Snow Patrol. Two words that have held hands with the Northern Irish music scene for the last 25 years. Sometimes being steered, pulled back from the edge or pushed in the right direction. More recently offering a hand to guide, to feed and point us to where we need to be headed.
We sent them on their way as they grew tall and conquered far away lands, and we snuggled them in close and listened to their tales of what life is like, off the island when they returned. Like Morrison, Lynott, McCullough and Bono, 'The Patrol' have been part of the sound of this wee place, replacing gunfire with greatness, replacing hate with open arms for a new generation.
It's no surprise therefor that Snow Patrol will officially be awarded their legendary status on November 7th in the historic Ulster Hall as part of the NI Music Prize. An award they have deserved for so long, and one that you can be sure they will hand on to generations to come.
