Shanti Celeste will take part in the ‘Pushing the dial on Women in Electronic Music’ panel

Details of the first wave of daytime events taking place as part of this year’s AVA Festival Conference have been released. The panels, sessions and keynote speakers will start from 11am on Saturday 4th June, in T13 Warehouse, Belfast.

The free sessions will include ‘The Origins of Techno Q+A’ with Juan Atkins - often cited as 'The Originator' of the genre - and Bicep will present the ‘Transition from DJ to Live Show’.

‘Life After Dark’ will welcome author and former Hacienda DJ, Dave Haslam and the CEO of the Association of Electronic Music, Mark Lawrence to explore the ‘creative, cultural and economic value of club culture'.

The involvement of women in electronic music will be discussed on a panel featuring Lizzy Bowman (Red Light Management), Halina Wielogorska (She said.so, Clintons Law, Boiler Room), Sarah McBriar (Up Productions & AVA Festival Founder) and Shanti Celeste (BRSTL, NTS, Idle Hands). ‘Pushing the Dial on Women in Electronic Music’ will discuss the challenges faced by women in what was historically a male occupied landscape, how the panelists have developed their own careers and how women can join together to encourage the next generation of electronic creatives.

There will also be DJ & producer competitions, plus drop in spaces with masterclasses in music technology & production, with registration open now.

The evening festival line-up announced so far includes RØDHÅD, Bicep Live Show - which is making it’s UK debut - Mano Le Tough, Gerd Janson, Optimo, Phil Kieran, Psycatron, Jordan, Hammer, Swoose & Cromby, Jika Jika, Twitch DJ’s, Misfit (live), OR:LA, Terriers (live), T-BONE B2B JMX, JC Williams, Sunil Sharpe, Brame & Hamo, Belfast Music Club, Guerrilla Shout, Belfast Music Club and Belfast Underground Records.
