The High Street Heist

Across The Line

Somewhereto_ will be taking over a vacant shop on Bangor’s Main Street from 22 July until 31 August and handing it over to young people aged between 16 and 25 to showcase their talents, ideas and enterprises to the local community.

There is an open call for submissions from musicians, artists, writers, photographers, designers, and creatives of every persuasion to utilise the space.

Rebekah McCabe of PLACE, who is managing the project in said "High Street vacancy rates in Northern Ireland are among the highest in the UK, while youth unemployment in some areas is as high as 50%, creating a cycle of disinvestment and disadvantage that threatens to blight a generation. Somewhereto_re:store addresses both these challenges by turning vacant high street space into resources for young people to come together and take ownership of their towns and cities."
