New Tune Disco - 10th November 2014

Across The Line

For this week’s New Tune Disco, Rigsy was joined by Niall Byrne AKA Nialler9 to chat about some of their favourite new releases.

Jape – The Heart’s Desire

Niall: He’s always kind of progressing his sound a little bit and I’m always kind of fascinated…I don’t make music but if I did I would make something like that, I would like to think…

Sissy – So What

Niall: Sissy are a new band from Dublin…it’s kind of melodic, and shouty and a bit low fi and a bit garage and a bit punky…The EP is four songs, eleven minutes long and some interesting topics are covered on the songs…

The Bayonettes – A Small Step to Greater Heights

Rigsy: There’s obviously something in the sea air up there…Surprisingly thoughtful track for music that is so noisy and a nice video to accompany this one as well.

Lethal Dialect – 26 Laws featuring Jess Kav

Niall: This is his third album but I think that it’s certainly his best so far …He has really put forward a very much forward thinking sound…and it really does make an impression...it’s very high quality.

Daveit Ferris – All I Wanted

Rigsy: A Derry Songwriter and Producer who’s been incredibly prolific…This track is from an EP entitled ‘A Taste of 365 Sparks’…Highly emotionally charged kind of indie pop punk…it works well for me this track.

New Jackson – Having a Coke with you

Niall: It really does build from a gentle wave, to the sample speech and then all the way up in full percussion, so really a great song and very different I guess for New Jackson and David Kitt, who is the producer behind New Jackson. He’s been really exploring different avenues in the last few years and that is a particularly good one for me.

Talos - Bloom

Niall: I could hear a nice duet happening between Talos and Gaze is Ghost if you ask me… I saw Eoin French over the summer…Just him on his own playing the piano was absolutely stunning...

Autumns – Commitment

Rigsy: A great piece of music – that wonderful indifference that they kind of bring to the recording process works really well, when it’s done that well.
