Steve Strange
Steve Strange has been announced as the winner of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ award at the NI Music Prize in the Ulster Hall, Belfast, on November 7th. In recognition of his dedication to music through ‘X-Ray Touring’ in which he was a co-founder, this award highlights his dedication and the impact Northern Ireland has played in the world of music.
Having grown up in Carrickfergus, Steve Strange is quite easily one of the most influential agents in the music industry. His client list is pretty impressive, with Coldplay, Queens of The Stone Age and our very own Snow Patrol all touring under his watchful eye. Music runs through Steve’s blood. In the early 80’s he was the drummer in No Hot Ashes as well as Fastway. Setting the drumsticks to one side he joined Prestige as an agent in 1991 and then moved back to Belfast to take up the position as promoter for Limelight. From here he built his unshakable reputation to form ‘X-ray Touring’ in 2005 where today the agency works with over 500 international acts
On top of all of that, Steve is also a champion of up and coming acts, using his passion, knowledge and experience for music and has provided many local bands with support slots alongside household names in arenas and stadium all over the world.
The sold out Northern Ireland Music Prize will be held at the Ulster Hall on November 7th featuring performances from Ryan Vail & Elma Orkestra, Jordan Adetunj, Strange New Places, Saint Sister and the 2019 Oh Yeah Legend Award recipients Snow Patrol.
