Halfmoon Bay - Boyfriend
Monday 30th November 2015
They Say:“We recorded Boyfriend at our own studio, 'Kingpin Studios'. The track was originally written for my own purpose - recording as a solo songwriter, with Ross producing the record. We became very close friends during the recording process, and decided to subscribe to the 'band' ethos instead of solo artistry.
We're really into the lo-fi / d.i.y ethic. We both just believe it shines through in our songs. It reflects the hard work we put into it as part of the NI artist class who can't (or won't) pay out to record something that doesn't reflect our personal dedication to, and affection for, our music.”
We Say: "With this track, North-coast two-piece Halfmoon Bay serve up a satisfying slice of mature melancholia. Appropriately stripped back instrumentation (delay-laden guitar against a tastefully reserved backdrop of bass and percussion) gives the lovelorn vocals the room to breathe that they deserve.”
‘Boyfriend’ is from Halfmoon Bay's debut E.P ’I’ll Meet You at the Wall’ which is out now on Papercut Records
