Hit the B Button! – Something to Lose

Monday18th April 2016

They Say: “'Something To Lose' was one of the first Hit The B Button! songs that was ever written back in the early days, but has been refined over time through our live shows and rehearsals until it was finally recorded as part of 'To Water On Mars'. When recording the track at Start Together Studios in Belfast we must have done at least ten takes in a row that we weren't happy with. Our sound engineer Niall, could see our frustration and called us out of the live room, into the elevator and took us up to the roof. We had been in the live room for hours on end, so the cool air felt amazing and being able to look out across a sun-drenched Belfast was a welcome change to staring at the four brick walls inside. Thanks to Niall we came back down refreshed and totally nailed the first take we did and that is the one you hear on the EP. Lyrically the song deals with feelings of loneliness and the fear of rejection. The imagery Stuart uses in the chorus is based on the scripture from the Bible that states God made Woman from the rib of Man and begs the question; was she only built so Man had something worth living for?”

We Say: “More alt-rock magic from a band we’ve enjoyed following the last year or two. This time there’s a bit more of an edge and an increase in drama. That said, the hooks remain a priority - ’Something to Lose' is instantly memorable.”

Hit the B Button!’s ‘To Water On Mars’ E.P is released on April 25th.
