Civil Simian - Brittle
20th April 2016
They Say: “Brittle is a song about humans at one of the weakest stage of their lives, i.e. when they are born. It's about preciousness and innocence, and it's inspired by real events. However, we tried to keep the song upbeat because the real story has a happy ending. At the time the song was written on piano we were listening to a lot of Radiohead's piano based songs, but in the end we dropped the piano and went for a more folky lively feel with acoustic guitar, percussion and mandolin and a slightly swung rhythm.”
We Say: “Adventurous, wonky and loads of fun – in those bass lines and keyboard hooks, if not in meaning - “Brittle” has a ridiculously catchy chorus and bucket loads of charm.”
Civil Simian are a Belfast alternative rock band who released ‘Brittle’ on 19th April.
