Rachael Boyd – Keep Your Head Up
Wednesday 14th June, 2017
They say: “The track was a piece I wrote around 2 years back. I had been listening to a lot more electronic music and experimenting with chopping up audio files and using different sounds for percussion. It was written when I was having a little wave of emotion which is usually when the best music is created!
I started off creating the beat/percussion and then added piano and chopped up vocal pieces. The strings and lyrics followed. The whole gist of the song is just when you think you are about to lose your mind, you've just got to get a grip and keep your head up/on basically.”
We say: “A fantastically evocative track, ‘Keep Your Head Up’ feels like the sort of thing that could come from a Hot Chip and Regina Spektor collaboration.
The short, ethereal vocals highlights the emotion contained within the track and brings the multitude of sonically stunning layers to life. It’s incredibly creative and surprises with every twist and turn.”
‘Keep Your Head Up’ is the latest self-produced single by the Belfast artist Rachael Boyd. It is available to listen to for free right now and has an accompanying music video.
