A little bit tired of the tunes that have been circling your headphones recently? Fret not; we’ve some fresh sounds for you here on That New Band Smell. I’m Niamh New Noise and I can promise you there’s something in the line-up below for everyone. In fact, even your ma’ might appreciate one of the these brand new gems!

*************************

WIFE - Bodies

WIFE is the brainchild of James Kelly, the man behindCork ambient black metal bandAltar of Plagues. Anyone who’s a fan of metal at least, might be familiar with Altar of Plagues having recenlty got album of the month in ‘Terrorizer’ magazine, toured with Mayhem and ex Isis front man Aaron Turner known to be a fan. Much like the Altar of Plagues material, WIFE is quite captivating. ‘Bodies’ is taken from the ‘Stoic’ EP and that will be released next month via Left Blank and you can get a sneek preview here

#1s - I Wish I Was Lonely

Next up are the #1s, garage punk from Dublin. These guys cite 70s Belfast punk as a big influence on them, listing the Undertones and other acts on the Good Vibrations label as their heroes. The #1s features members of the Pacifics, a 50s style garage rock band who have been making quite a name for themselves on the Dublin garage circuit. This track ‘I Wish I Was Lonely’ is from their brand new 7”, which diy lable Art For Blind will be launching next month on the 3rd of November with Sea Pinks.

Lar Kaye - Effector

Finally we have Adebisi Shank guitarist Lar Kaye’s solo material. For those of you who may not be familiar with Adebisi Shank, they’re a Wicklow based three piece signed to Sargent House (the same label as And So I Watch You From Afar). Lar is a multi talented guy, also playing drums in No Spill Blood, and this EP sees him trying his hand at all aspects of the music making process, and succeeding. Vinny McCreith (bassist Adebisi Shank/The Vinny Club) mixed the EP and artwork is courtesy of Laura De Burca. We’re all very excited for Lar here at ATL, here’s a track called Effector.
