That New Band Smell: Distracter
Good day to you, keen explorers of sound. It's Phily Taggart here, armed with a bodacious bunch of bands for your consideration this week. Ok, so enough with the pleasantries, we all know what we have to do, get down and intimate with the green horns. Welcome to 'That New Band Smell'.

Conor Brown - On Thin Ice
Having been classically trained and a penchant for Swedish electro pop, the question is, how are you going to not listen to 18 year old songwriter Conor Brown?
The New Wave - Bag of Hammers
The Burnt Reynolds are back and with a face lift, well more of a face melt. These thundering riffs and projectile rhythms is most definitely of the post hardcore variety, the variety that feels like F**ked Up's lead singer pirouetting on your temple.
Distracter - The Contortionist
Former members of local alt-rock band Ablespacer, Distracter are hanging around the same genre isle in the record shop. The only difference is, they've got the premo position of front place on the rack. The songs are better, the execution effortless and the guitar playing is more Jonny Greenwood than Jonny Greenwood has been recently. Head over to their bandcamp and familiarise yourself with their two free downloads. You won't regret it.
