Describe in a Tweet: Intelligent beats from one man & his machines.

What Happened: The origins of hip-hop and dance music come from sampling and loops, and this is where the two collide – that area inhabited by the likes of DJ Shadow, Mr Scruff, DJ Format, The Avalanches and so on. Working off a laptop and a loop station, this set drifts from hip-hop to electronica in a (dare we use the cliché?) soundscape. The music itself takes these samples and twists them into a sense of journey. We’ll take note and watch to see if this hot tip progresses to a dead sert. Unfortunately too little of the crowd do the same.

Lose Yourself: Beautiful sounds, great potential

Guilty Conscience: This needs a dark tent, not daylight in the open air, feeling like a sterile performance, rather than an interaction between artist and crowd.

Rating: 7/10
