Chattering Classes #35 - Phoenix Fire
In the ATL Office this Tuesday afternoon we pondered Jedward, mooted farm feed and most importantly Phily Taggart sat in Rigsys vacated virtual MSN chat to sit down with another very talented Irish band.
This week Phily got all up in the grill of sweeping popstrels Phoenix Fire. Where's Wally, The Fresh Prince Bel Air and Uri Geller all get honourbale mentions as well as Fiona and David from Phoenix Fire learning some life lessons along the way.
(Please note, as always, spelling mistakes are authors own, transcript is pasted word for word)

Phily Says: Howdy! Who have we got here?
Fiona Says: Hello! Its Fiona and Dave here!
Phily Says: greetings. How are you guys today?
Fiona Says: we are good thanks! we are working on some tunes and lyrics and hoping that the rain goes away so Dave can play more basketball haha
Phily Says: Is that typical of Phoenix Fire. Go shoot some hoops and then get your rhyme on?
Sounds like a NYC street corner.
Fiona Says: Yeh totally, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air has nothing on us haha!
Phily Says: haha thats far better
Fiona Says: Apart from when dave got in a fight one time and his parents sent him to his auntie and uncles house :)
Phily Says: Rockin
I drifted upon your music a few months ago in Auntie Annie's and absolutely loved it. Where were ya hiding before hand?
Maybe I simply wasn't looking hard enough?
Fiona Says: Think of us like Wally lol.. no we've been on the scene for a while now, but we've been keeping ourselves under the radar until we had the tunes ready!
Phily Says: They totally are now!
Wide Awake is great.
You take delight in the epic pop tune don't ya?
Fiona Says: thanks dude!
Phily Says: who's yer major influences?
Fiona Says: We all have very differnet influences in the band! Its strange how so many different music tastes can come together! But I think the main influences come from The Frames, Coldplay, Radiohead and of course Lady Gaga.
Fiona Says: when it comes down to it, i think as a band we want tunes that will move people, and make an impact! thats what we love about wide awake in particular.
Phily Says: i can totally hear a few of those in there well apart from Lady Gaga but maybe thats just a fashion influence
i think the duel vocals are very important in creating that emotional impact how long have you two been singing together?
Fiona Says: haha nah Im just kiddin! She is pretty amazing in her own way though.. thats where Jav our drummer gets his fashion influences from :)
Phily Says: it sounds weird to say but even though you are a guy and girl it seems like you have twinned voices. Thats the sign of a good band you know.
Fiona Says: Dave and I have been friends for about 10 years now! And we started singing together about 8years ago in school (we went to the same school) so I think vocally we developed a certain chemistry.. when we're writing I don't even have to tell him what Im thinking because most of the time he sings exactly what I had in mind! Its very strange!
Phily Says: Northern Irelands first Telekinetic pop band. Just don't go bending any spoons.
Phily Says: right our short time together is nearly up
Fiona Says: Just you wait boy! aww:(
Phily Says: what's on the horizon for Phoenix Fire over the next few months?
Fiona Says: the next coming months will be busy for PF as we've to write for the next recording session at the end of Feb, and we have a few new venues we'll be playing - Cloister's Bar in Ballynahinch & Cellar Bar in Draperstown! - And then Headlining Radar in Feb aswell.. We are currently working on the live show too.. its all go go go for PF! Busy, but fun :) So keep an eye out!
Phily Says: Glorious! Lets leave on a telekenitic manner. David what is Fiona thinking and vice versa.
Fiona Says: ok, fiona is thinkin, my what a descent chap dave is! dave is think is thinkin, im hungry! lol
Phily Says: haha class I'm off! Thanks for the chat guys. See ya's soon.
