Teenage Masterpieces
BBC Blast have invaded the ATL Offices with their youthful good looks and vitality, making the normal ATL crew look decidedly jaded and knackered. So in honour of our new guests, as part of tonight's SuggestiOn-Air, we demand to know your all time favourite album created by teenagers.
Some of the ATL team are so old they needed to consult dusty encyclopaedias to remember their youth, so let us know yours by shouting us here, on our facebook or on our twitter and we will give y'all a shout on the show tonight.
PAUL MCCLEAN (ATL CHIEF OF STAFF)
Band: Supergrass
Album / EP: I Should Coco
One of the gems from a bewilderingly hectic summer of music back in 1995, Supergrass simply plopped out, fully formed, with a near perfect debut album called 'I Should Coco'. 'Alright' was a instant classic with it's insanely catchy piano riff, but tracks like 'Caught by the Fuzz', 'Strange Ones' and 'Mansize Rooster' also introduced a rare songwriting ability that has sadly since gone into hiatus. With a collective age of one member of Oasis, they also reignited rock music's love affair with facial hair and biblically proportioned sideburns. Huzzah!
HOLLY BALLENTINE (ATL CO-PRESENTER)
Band: Furthest Drive Home
Album / EP: The Complete First Series
The now deceased Furthest Drive Home added a taster of 80s power ballads into their mix of catchy, rhythmic tunes and nonsensical lyrics. In their late teens for 'The Complete First Series' , Furthest Drive Home remind me of a modern Journey, and had the potential of bringing a taste of classic rock back into today's music. But unfortunately the band members let their squabbles get the better of them and so the inevitable happened... they split up! Kids, eh?
RIGSY (ATL PIN UP)
Band: Ash
Album / EP: 1977
"Guaranteed real teenagers" the sticker promised, with the band having to get permission from their school's headmaster to go on tour with Elastica. This was proper fairytale stuff - three teenagers ready to take on the world armed with wide eyed pop-punk gems they didn't realize were so bloomin' good. And while binge drinking certainly isn't big or clever, the inclusion of a secret track which was nothing but laughter and vomiting was a cheeky reminder, not that we needed it, that Ash were barely out of nappies.
AMY MCGARRIGLE (ATL OFFICE MONKEY)
Band: Arctic Monkeys
Album / EP: What Ever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006)
They seemingly came out of nowhere, with nineteen year old Alex Turner penning lyrics summing up life as a Shieffield-ian teen. Singles like 'I Bet You Look Good on The Dance Floor' and 'When the Sun Goes Down' pleased the critics and the music buying public, propelling the band to the top of the charts with a new breed of indie rock. The release of this album made me realise people younger than me were making great albums, and simultaneously made me excited and bitter as a result!

Not only were they young 'uns, but they invented straight edge, played hardcore faster than anyone else, but they also created one of the finest indie labels in existence!
Go them!
