BBC wins at the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2018

Last night, Wednesday 28 February 2018, The Royal Television Society (RTS) Television Journalism Awards were held at a ceremony in London.
The news and current affairs awards: “seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK-based platform, or who create online video content from a UK production base”.
BBC news programmes and journalists took home 11 awards in total, with Victoria Derbyshire named Network Presenter of the Year award; Orla Guerin awarded Television Journalist of the Year and Nawal Al-Maghafi (BBC News for BBC One) took the Young Talent of the Year award.

In addition, Daily News Programme of the Year went to BBC News at Ten (BBC News for BBC One), and both News Coverage awards went to BBC programmes - the Home award for The Grenfell Tower Fire (Newsnight, BBC Two) and the International award for Yemen (BBC News for BBC One).

I’m particularly proud that the RTS recognised the full range of our television output – home and foreign, programmes and newsgathering, innovation and experience, network and regional.
