BBC wins at the 25th BAFTA Cymru Awards

Documentary Mr Calzaghe
Last night (Sunday 2 October) the 25th BAFTA Cymru Awards were held at a ceremony at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. Hosted by BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, presenters included BAFTA-winning actress Sian Phillips, Michael Palin and actor Robert Pugh.
Big winners included the feature documentary about boxer Joe Calzaghe, Mr Calzaghe, (which aired on BBC One Wales and BBC Two Wales earlier this year) which was recognised in three categories, Best Director: Factual for Vaughan Sivell, Special Achievement in Film/TV for the Production Team, and also in the Sound category for the Production Team.
BBC programmes that took home gongs included: Hinterland which was awarded Best Television Drama and also earned actress Mali Harries the Best Actress award for her role as DI Mared Rhys. The Photography: Factual award went to Aled Jenkins for Patagonia with Huw Edwards, while the Factual Series award was given to Siobhan Logue for BBC Four's Music for Misfits: The Story of Indie.

Doctor Who: The Magician's Apprentice
The Current Affairs award went to the Production Team of BBC Wales' Life After April, while the Production Team for BBC Cymru Wales' Argyfwng y Mudwyrtook the News Coverage award. The Editing Award was taken home by Madoc Roberts for Tim Rhys Evans – All in the Mind, the programme also won the Single Documentary prize.
Elsewhere, Will Millard took home the gong for Best Presenter for BBC Two's Hunters of the South Seasand the Production Team of Doctor Who: The Magician’s Apprentice were awarded the Special and Visual Affects, Titles and Graphic Identity prize.
Monty Python Terry Jones was given the Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television Award.
